![]() A neighbor was throwing out these old beams, and we couldn't resist the temptation to re-purpose them into a mantle for Little Pines cabin. As with all such projects, it turned out to be much more difficult than we expected, but they are now successfully installed. We'll put some pieces of birch limbs into the holes, which will stick out and make great little hooks for hanging gloves to dry after skiing at Mountain High, and of course for hanging Christmas stockings!

Yesterday while it thundered in the flat-lands and rained in Wrightwood, it snowed at Mt. High, just a few miles UP the street (literally, of course!). There's not enough snow to ski, but hopefully this early snow is a good sign that we'll have a good season, and an early season opening. The temperatures have certainly dropped this week, making it cold enough for making snow at Mt. High -- and cold enough for big cozy fires at the cabin!
