Frequently Asked Questions
What time is check in/out? Can I come early or late, or stay late?

Check in is officially 3pm or later and check out by 10am. Arriving late is never a problem; you'll have a key code to let yourself in when you get there. Sometimes we can do early check-in or late check-out, depending on the booking and cleaning schedule. But if someone is staying the night before or after you, we will need the gap time to clean the cabin and wash the linens/towels, etc. Feel free to inquire for details or put in a request (no guarantees).
What forms of payment do you take? And can you accommodate last-minute bookings?
We do all of our payments online. Because of this, it is highly likely that we can accommodate a last-minute booking, as long as the cabin has already been cleaned from the previous guests. We can also set up custom payment plans if you are booking more than a couple months in advance. We currently take major credit cards and can also do bank transfers and e-checks (ask for details). We do not accept paper checks, however.
Do you provide linens? What about kitchen items?
We provide all sheets, towels, blankets, etc. that you should need, as well as some toiletries, paper towels, and basic kitchen items and gas for the BBQ grills. Bring your personal items, food to cook, and if you want a fire in the fireplace, bring a bundle of firewood and some newspaper to get it started. Using lighter fluid inside is strictly prohibited.
Where can I get married in Wrightwood? At your cabin?
Most people have their Weddings at the Wrightwood Guest Ranch, though some opt for more unique spots like Inspiration Point or Mountain High, as well as the Wrightwood Country Club. We often get requests for people that want to get married on our property, but our yards are not ideal for this. However, many people do stay at our cabins for Wedding weekends, from wedding parties getting ready to wedding couples spending their wedding night. And with two sets of cabins that are right next to each other, lots of families coming to attend a wedding in Wrightwood will book both places so they can spend time together but still have their private space.
Do you allow pets?

We currently do allow pets at all cabins with a $30 pet fee, which covers short stays. While we love furry friends, they do tend to produce more wear-and-tear on a property, as well as require a little more cleaning. We ask, however, that pets not be allowed on furniture and that pet owners clean up all pet mess in the yard or an additional fee will be assessed. Since our yards are a great place for kids to play, we'd prefer to keep the environment as pleasant as possible for everyone. At Little Pines and the Hideaway the yard is mostly fenced but there are places where it is open. At Reindeer Cottage the yard is completely fenced, as well as at Owls Nook and Chickadee.
Will it snow when I'm there?

Of course we cannot guarantee snow! But to help you make your travel plans, we do get snow in Wrightwood starting as early as October and ending as late as April or May. Each year is different. January and February have the strongest likelihood that there will be fresh snow, followed by December, November, and March. But even if it doesn't snow while you're here, as long as the weather is cold enough, Mountain High will make their own snow, and you're likely to find spots in the mountains where the sun has not yet melted the last snowfall. Some places keep their snow cover until the middle of summer, such as The Patch, a spot that's popular with summertime snowboarders (board at your own risk!).
What are your policies/rules? Do I have to sign a rental agreement?
When you book online, the website allows you to download the cabin agreement and requires that you check the box that you've read and agreed to it.
What about your maximum occupancy?
The maximum number of guests allowed at each cabin is set by the County. Because we can lose our permit if these numbers are exceeded, we have to be strict about this, and groups that exceed the limits will lose their security deposit and may get an eviction visit from the Sheriff. Little Pines and Owls Nook can sleep up to 7 guests; the Hideaway and Chickadee can sleep up to 4 guests; Reindeer Cottage sleeps 8. There can be some wiggle room -- but any exceptions must be with our written permission. Additionally, all cars must fit in the driveway or they may be towed, especially in winter when the snowplows must have access.
What's your smoking policy?
We respect that smokers are people, too! That's why we allow smoking on our decks outside, away from all open doors and windows. We ask that smokers in return respect our property and use an ashtray, clean up all smoking mess, and NEVER put cigarette butts in the yard due to the high forest fire danger. If any of the smoking rules are violated (if it smells like smoke in the house or if there are butts in the yard), the security deposit will not be returned.
What's the cancellation policy?
To qualify for a refund, cancellations must be done at least 30 days in advance. Reservations made less than 30 days in advance are, for the most part, non-refundable, but please contact us to discuss your situation. Please note that we have much more flexibility if you book through our website, and can always return cleaning fees and deposits if you haven't checked in. If you book through HomeAway, VRBO, AirBnB, etc., the cancellation policies on those sites are stricter with less refunds or alternate options. If you are concerned you may have to cancel a reservation, it is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance separately; there are several companies online that offer such services. Sorry, we cannot refund cancellations due to weather (including lack of snow for a ski trip or rain for an outdoor event) or last-minute event cancellations. There's plenty to do here even if your initial plans fall through! Reservations are transferable, however, so consider selling/gifting your reservation to a friend if you need to cancel less than 30 days before check-in.
